Citizen Media Group provides a portal site for citizen journalists to report on news, sports and features through traditional articles, along with real-time streaming of audio and visual content from their various communities and organizations. CMG’s experienced career journalists and media producers will train participants using the Society of Professional Journalist ethics. The training will be open to secondary and post secondary schools, hospitals, civic groups, government groups and nonprofit organizations. The program also will promote the assimilation of health news, medical training and other critical needs in rural areas through the Internet portal.
The Citizen Media Group is a consortium of experienced media professionals committed to restoring the public service motive to the profession and to creating an informational organization of the people, by the people, for the people. The Group produces an online news publication, sponsors documentary filmmaking and provides educational speakers, workshops, seminars on civic and media related topics, often using experiential education methods.
As a nonprofit, we seek and accept grants, donations and sponsorships. As a social enterprise, we develop self-sustaining revenue streams to assure our financial and journalistic independence.
